The PETKUS grain separator ZA model combines the separation of long and short impurities in a single system and is used for the sorting and separation of grain, fine seeds, vegetable seeds and similar agricultural pellet-like and free-flowing products. Impurities are separated by length. The ZA model is available in four different sizes and throughput ranges from 3 to 12 t/h (based on sorting of wheat with 3% impurities). Based on the optimum adjustment of the cylinder diameter, length and speed, and the optimum adjustment of the seed flow, the trio achieves maximum quality in the separation of impurities.

In the cylinder of short impurities, both half grains and short foreign bodies are separated from the seeds. The impurities are distributed into the concave openings of the cylinder, and rotation of the cylinder lifts them into the central recess in the cylinder. Separation of long impurities works in the opposite way, where the seeds are separated from the long impurities by the concave openings of the cylinder, directing the seeds into the central recess of the cylinder.
